Yoga is for Everybody
Yoga is a form of exercise that originated in India. Yoga means “to yoke,” or to unite the mind and body by incorporating physical postures and breathing. These practices illustrate this connection between the mind and the body with the ultimate goal of enlightenment.
There are many benefits to practicing yoga including increased flexibility and strength, increased body awareness, reduced stress and improved physical and mental wellbeing. The great thing about it is that you don’t have to be super flexible or have to hold headstands for hours with fancy gear. The principles of yoga apply to EVERYbody. To get started, all you need is you!
Yoga has many styles that can be done alone, or in groups, like the classes that are offered at ViaroFit. Finding the right style of yoga to fit your current fitness needs and lifestyle will ensure your success. The group offered at ViaroFit includes Restorative Yoga, Flow Yoga, and PiYo, a Pilates/yoga fusion.
Restorative yoga is a gentle form of yoga that focuses on holding poses through active and passive stretching with the support of props using breathwork to promote deep relaxation and stress reduction. Restorative yoga is a great class for beginners and can be modified to meet your needs.
ViaroFit offers Restorative Yoga Mondays from 5 to 6 p.m.
Flow yoga is a type of Vinyasa Yoga that involves moving smoothly through sequenced yoga postures. This Dynamic exercise emphasizes the connection between your mind and body through focused breath and movement. This is an all-level, beginner-friendly class.

Hatha yoga is a slower form of yoga that incorporates holding poses longer while focusing on your breath. Using the fundamental yoga postures and a slower pace, this is a good class for beginners.
Iyengar yoga emphasizes precise alignment and uses props. It has a vigorous, purposeful sequence that is practiced regularly by dedicated practitioners.
Vinyasa Yoga incorporates flowing through intentionally sequenced yoga poses with focus on your breath and holding poses for longer periods of time to build intensity, focus, and endurance. Vinyasa classes vary, but are often all-level, beginner-friendly classes
Power yoga is an intense type of Vinyasa Yoga class that focuses on strength, endurance, and calorie burning poses. It is often practiced in a heated room. Power Yoga is best suited to a person with a regular cardio routine or a seasoned practitioner.
Chair Yoga is a modified form of yoga that is practiced while sitting in a chair and is accessible for people with mobility limitations or injuries.
With the many different types of yoga, there is sure to be a class that meets your current fitness level and lifestyle. Finding the right class is the key to developing a healthy routine.
